This site uses one optional cookie set, for Google Analytics, and it is not switched on unless you agree to it.
Nothing is set before you choose. When you first arrive you are asked. Until you answer, and for as long as you decline, no analytics cookie is written. There is no advertising, no retargeting and no profile built about you either way.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep, so it can recognise you on a later visit. Cookies are useful for things like staying logged in — and they are also how most of the advertising industry follows people around the internet. Ours does neither of those. It counts visits.

Google Analytics may also set a very short-lived cookie to limit how often data is sent. These are first-party cookies, meaning they are readable only by this website.
What we do with it
We look at which pages people read and which ones they leave immediately. That is genuinely all. It tells us whether the Cyber Essentials page is useful or whether nobody can find it.
We have not enabled Google's advertising features, so this data is not used for remarketing or ad personalisation. Consent Mode is set to deny advertising storage outright, which is enforced in the page code rather than left as a setting we might forget.
Where the data goes
Google acts as our data processor. Analytics data may be processed outside the UK, including in the United States, under the transfer safeguards described in our privacy policy. If you would rather not participate, decline — the site works identically.
What we do not do
- No advertising or retargeting tags. Visiting this page will not cause our adverts to follow you around.
- No social media tracking widgets. The LinkedIn and Facebook icons in the footer are ordinary links. They load nothing from those companies until you click them.
- No heatmaps or session recording. We are not watching your mouse move.
- No selling or sharing of anything, to anyone.
Changing your mind
Use the change your cookie choice link above at any time. If you decline after having previously agreed, we delete the analytics cookies from your browser there and then.
Your choice is remembered in your browser's local storage — not in a cookie — so that we do not have to ask on every page. That single item is strictly necessary to honour your preference, and it holds nothing but the word "granted" or "denied".
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and most browsers offer a "do not track" or equivalent privacy setting.
Your server logs
Like effectively every website, our host records requests to the server, including IP addresses. These are technical records used to keep the site running and block abuse — not cookies, and not used to identify or follow individual visitors.
